Customer Success Stories: Panasonic, Dine Brands & Best Western

by Don Bunt 2. October 2018 09:23

Over the years, Bunt Software has helped thousands of merchants implement secure payments. In quick service, we helped Panasonic System Manager Pro users become PCI compliant by implementing a middleware interface to Merchant Link's TransactionVault. Customers like Wendy's, Popeyes, Taco Johns, Arby's and Cold Stone Creamery have processed over 50 million PCI compliant transactions. In casual dining, we helped Dine Brands implement tokenization for their Applebee's restaurants. In lodging, we helped Best Western International analyze their systems and implement PCI compliant interfaces for hotels as well as their website.

We have a deep understanding of the PCI rules and have the expertise to identify what is in scope. We have implemented encrypted storage and communications. We handle both brick and mortar as well as E Commerce systems.

We are a certified PCI-QIR (Qualified Integrator and Reseller) company. We have written numerous PCI compliant credit interfaces using C#/VB .NET for Windows as well as Java on Linux. When required, we have validated the interfaces that we have created to the PA-DSS specifications. In addition, we have strong experience in many other languages and technologies. We have been working on PCI (and PABP) compliant software for since the beginning of credit card security (15 years).

Launched in 1997, Bunt Software is a leader in the field of powerful, point-of-sale software solutions. The driving force behind the company, its founder, Don Bunt, served as the lead architect of Panasonic’s System Manager Pro (SMP) software; widely used by major quick service restaurant chains and throughout the hospitality industry.

In addition to point-of-sale systems, Bunt Software also has extensive experience in the development of factory automation software, including G-Code based, vision-enabled, multi-axis machine control systems and Windows graphical user interfaces (GUI) for robotics, laser cutting, routing, dispensing and mechanical engraving.

Bunt Software’s development experience and expertise spans a wide array of industries and technologies. The company has Microsoft Certified Engineers on staff and develops innovative software solutions on a project or time & material basis. We would welcome the opportunity to work with you on your next project.

SMPLink™ v3.0 drops support for SSL v3

by Don Bunt 11. January 2017 16:55

When SMPLink™ was first created in 2010, the PCI Council recommended using Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) V3 for communications across the internet. In recent years, several vulnerabilities have been found, including the POODLE vulnerability. These vulnerabilities can allow hackers access to credit card track data. SSL V3 is no longer PCI compliant.

In the meantime, a new and more secure mechanism was born, Transport Layer Security (TLS). The communication layer in SMPLink™ V3.0 has been rewritten to use exclusively TLS v1.2; the most secure transport layer available. SMPLink™ v3.0 is PA-DSS v3.1 compliant.

Merchants using older versions SMPLink™ need to move to SMPLink™ version 3.0 as soon as possible to avoid being the target of hacking. Contact your dealer to upgrade today.

With the help of Bunt Software, Panasonic has released System Manager Pro version 4.0 powered by SMPLink™ v3.0. SMPLink™ is installed with every copy and SMP version 4.0 supports Windows 7, 8 and 10.

SMPLink™ has had over 910 sites installed and has processed over 200 million transactions since 2010.

SMPLink™ is the BEST credit interface for the Panasonic System Manager Pro (SMP) pos system.

Bunt Software approved by the PCI Standards Council as a Qualified Integrator and Reseller

by Don Bunt 10. May 2016 19:40

Bunt Software is pleased to announce that they have been approved by the PCI Standards Council as a Qualified Integrator and Reseller. QIR's are qualified in the secure installation of Payment Application Data Security Standard (PA-DSS)-validated payment applications into merchant environments in a manner that facilitates PCI Data Security Standard compliance.

Numerous breach investigations have shown that incorrect installation and/or maintenance of payment applications creates opportunities for merchant networks to be compromised. Integrators and resellers play a key role in the payments ecosystem, as merchants depend on these service providers to install, configure, and/or maintain their validated applications.

Lookup "Bunt Software" on the PCI council website to verify our certification. Whether you are installing SMP and SMPLink™ or something else, Bunt Software can help.

According to a Visa Security Bulletin dated 29 Oct 2015, starting 31 March 2016, newly boarded merchants must use only QIR certified professionals to install their POS applications. Starting 31 January 2017, the same applies for existing merchants.

Bunt Software can help to install your POS software in a PCI compliant manner.

With the help of Bunt Software, Panasonic has released System Manager Pro version 4.0 powered by SMPLink™. SMPLink™ is installed with every copy and SMP version 4.0 supports Windows 7, 8 and 10.

SMPLink™ is credit card interface software developed specifically for Panasonic System Manager Pro (SMP) users that integrates seamlessly with Merchant Link's TransactionVault® - a system that stores sensitive cardholder data in a secure vault - not on your back office computer.

SMPLink™ has had over 910 sites installed and has processed over 136 million transactions to date.

SMPLink™ is the ONLY PA-DSS compliant credit interface for the Panasonic System Manager Pro (SMP) pos system.
